Valdenocerillo site

Logroño
Cornago

This rock surface is located in the Valdenocerillo Ravine in Cornago.   There are nine fossil tracks produced by a medium to large-sized theropod.  The tracks are somewhat eroded and are 35 centimeters long. Incidentally, scientists have calculated that this particular animal walked at a speed of 6.7 kilometers/hour, a very slow pace for this kind of animal. They also calculated it took the animal seven seconds to pass through the area of the site. A few seconds from 130 million years ago that survived until our times and reveal to us these tracks left by a theropod, surely while it was finding food around the lakes that covered a signification portion of this part of La Rioja during that era.
